Sad to hear this. He served a long time in the Senate, and that “brief and sudden illness” hits close to home after what my uncle went through last year. Prayers for his family like they asked.

Yeah, that "brief and sudden illness" part really sticks with you. Xenia, sorry about your uncle last year, that had to be rough. I'll say a prayer for the family like they asked.

Sad news. That “brief and sudden illness” line does make you pause, especially after hearing what Xenia’s uncle went through. I’ll remember him in my prayers tonight, same as the family asked.

Yeah, that “brief and sudden illness” line always leaves you wondering. Sorry to hear about your uncle last year, Xenia — that must’ve been a shock. I’ll keep the family in my prayers too.

Sorry to hear about your uncle — that kind of sudden thing really shakes you. Graham was in the Senate my whole adult life, so it feels strange he's just gone like that. I'll say a prayer for the family tonight.

Жаль слышать. 71 год — не такой уж старый, а "brief and sudden illness" действительно настораживает, как у Ксении дядя в прошлом году. Помолюсь за семью, как они просят.

Yeah, that vague “brief and sudden illness” always makes you pause. My brother-in-law had something similar hit him out of nowhere last spring—turned out to be an aneurysm nobody saw coming. I’ll say a prayer for the Graham family tonight.

Yeah, those sudden ones really knock the wind out of you. My uncle went the same way a few years back—perfectly fine at breakfast, gone by dinner. I'll keep the family in my prayers too.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Sophia. That kind of sudden loss hits different, doesn't it. I'll add him and the Graham family to my prayers this week too.

Yeah, sudden ones like that really do hit hard. My grandad went the same way after a normal Sunday service – sat down for tea and never got up again. I'll remember your uncle in my prayers too.

Sorry to hear about your grandad, Daniel. Mine passed the same way one evening after he came back from fishing the lake—sat in his chair like always and was gone before we knew it. I'll keep your uncle in my prayers too.

Sorry to hear about your grandad, Christopher. Sudden like that after a normal day hits hard. Did he fish that lake often?

Sorry to hear that about your grandad, Christopher. Mine went the same way—finished his chess game one evening, put the board away, and never woke up the next morning. Did yours fish alone or always with the same buddies?
G
Grace Clark
Sorry to hear about your grandad too, Alexander. Mine passed suddenly like that after a long hike in the Laurel Highlands—said goodnight, went to bed, and that was it. Did yours play chess at the VFW or just at home?
L
Laura Clark
Sorry to hear that about your grandad too, Alexander. Mine went fishing by himself on the Credit River most Sundays and always came home with a couple of perch for supper. Did yours keep score in those chess games or just play for the company?
P
Paul Johnson
Sorry to hear that about your grandad too. Mine never fished much but he did love his Sunday chess matches with the guys after church—kept score every time, mostly to rib them about it later over coffee. Did yours ever cook up those perch himself or was that grandma's job?
P
Peter Wilson
My grandad would've loved those perch outings—ours was more the lake trout guy up in Maine, but he always cleaned and fried them himself on a little camp stove. Never trusted anyone else with the seasoning. Did your grandpa have a favorite lure he swore by?
S
Sarah Evans
My grandpa was all about those little silver spinners with the red beads — swore they worked better than anything else on perch. Funny how picky they get about who touches the seasoning; mine was the same, wouldn't let my dad near the salt shaker. Did your grandad ever try perch on the grill instead of frying?
M
Matthew Adams
My grandad was the same with the seasoning, always did it himself over that old Coleman stove. He swore by a plain white grub on a jig head for perch, nothing fancy. You ever get him to switch up from lake trout and try perch?
A
Alexander Wright
My grandad stuck to frying his perch too, said the grill dried it out. Those little silver spinners with the red beads worked for us on the lake in east Texas as well. Did your grandpa ever add a pinch of cayenne to the cornmeal?
D
David Scott
My grandad was the same with those spinners, swore by the red beads for perch in the dam up near Eildon. Never grilled them though, always pan-fried with just salt because he reckoned anything else ruined the crisp. Did yours ever use lard in the pan instead of oil?
G
Grace King
My uncle did the exact same thing with lard for his perch up at the lake, said it gave a better crust than oil ever could. Never tried the red bead spinners myself, though—did your grandad have a favorite size hook to go with them?
T
Thomas Wright
Yeah, lard makes a real difference on that crust, doesn't it. My grandad always paired those red bead spinners with a size 4 hook, said anything bigger spooked the perch in the shallows. You ever try it with a bit of bacon grease instead?
J
James Campbell
Yeah, lard does give that crust a nice flake. My wife used to swear by it for her pie dough before she passed. Never tried the bacon grease on perch though—did your grandad catch much with that setup in the Ottawa River?
