In the Cossack class of the 24th school in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, classes on the basics of Orthodoxy continue. In one lesson, the second graders went through more than a thousand years of history, and no one got tired.

There are lessons after which the bell seems too early. This is exactly how the next lesson on the basics of Orthodox culture went in the Cossack class of school No. 24. The head of the youth department of the Yuzhno-Sakhalin and Kuril diocese, Archpriest Viktor Gorbach, came to visit the children, and together they went on a journey to the “Millennium of Russia” monument. The monument has been erected in Veliky Novgorod, the cradle of Russian statehood, since 1862.

“This monument shows more than a thousand years of history of our country, which is inextricably linked with the Orthodox faith,” the clergyman noted.

Father Victor suggested examining the monument from top to bottom. At the very top there is an angel with a cross, and a woman, personifying Russia, kneeled in front of him. An angel overshadows Russia with a cross. Their base is a ball - a power. The inscription on the ball: “To the accomplished millennium of the Russian State...”.
