Never heard of Ioann Vyshensky before — interesting they chose him for the PCU calendar. What are the actual traditions or bans for Aphenogen’s day that people still follow?

I hadn't heard of Ioann Vyshensky either until our priest mentioned him last year in Bible study. On Aphenogen’s day my grandmother always avoided any heavy work in the garden and wouldn't let us swim, saying it was one of those quiet "no water" days. Do you follow any of the old calendar customs in your parish?

Our priest mentioned Vyshensky was added because he’s a local Ukrainian ascetic who defended Orthodoxy against the Uniates, but he admitted the pairing with Aphenogen feels a bit forced on the new calendar. Do you still avoid heavy garden work altogether or just the digging part?
