On August 22, the day of the festival in honor of the locally revered Tiraspol Icon of the Mother of God, a solemn service was held in the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. The Divine Liturgy was led by His Eminence Archbishop Savva of Tiraspol and Dubossary, who was co-served by the first assistant to the Ruling Bishop Archimandrite John (Danilescu), the dean of the Central District Archpriest Sergius Verbitsky and clergy of the Central Deanery. Despite the early hour, on this holiday the cathedral was filled with numerous believers who came to glorify the Most Holy Theotokos and ask for Her prayerful intercession. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, glorification was performed at the locally revered image of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost” of Tiraspol. The archpastor and clergy sang the magnification of the Queen of Heaven, after which Archbishop Sava offered a prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos, asking for Her protection and help for all who resort to the holy image with faith.
