Interestingly, it was in the Basilica of Saint Sofia. I remember being in Sofia a few years ago and walking in there - it's impressive. May God grant him eternal rest.

Tsar Samuel in Hagia Sophia - the right place was chosen. I remember going there in 2014, it was cool and quiet inside, I even got goosebumps. Let Patriarch Daniel serve, eternal memory to the king.

Yes, this basilica gives a special impression, especially with those old mosaics. It's interesting that they are celebrating for Emperor Samuel right there – perhaps because it is one of the oldest places in Sofia. May he rest in peace.

The basilica in Sofia really does stay cool inside even on a hot day. I remember stepping in there myself years ago and feeling that same quiet. May the Lord grant Tsar Samuel eternal rest.

The stone floors do keep it wonderfully cool, don't they? I was there last summer and the quiet stayed with me all afternoon. May his memory be eternal.

Patriarch Daniil is serving a trisage right there, in "Sveta Sofia" - the place is in the place. As I walk past the basilica, I always wonder how cool it must have been in the summer of Samuel's time. Eternal memory to him.

Иванка Иванова
Yes, that's right, it's in its place. And I often pass by on my way to the hospital shift and think about how difficult it would have been to build such a basilica without today's machines. Eternal memory of King Samuel.

Иван Кирилов
I agree Ivanke, the place really suits him. As for me, when I pass by Hagia Sophia, I often think of how those thick walls were raised by hand, with ropes and scaffolding. Eternal memory to him.

Георги Иванов
Yes, Ivanke, when I pass by there after fishing at the dam, I often stop and think about those huge stones - how they were dragged by oxen and hands. Eternal memory to Samuel.

Yes, the mosaics in Saint Sophia are truly impressive, especially those from the 6th century. Interestingly, they chose this particular place to pray for Tsar Samuel - perhaps because of this ancient tradition. May he rest in peace.

Yes, Georgi, I have also passed by "Sveta Sofia" after a walk in the mountains and I keep thinking about how much work was put into these walls. It is good that now Samuel is there and Patriarch Daniel has served the trisage. Eternal memory to him.

Богдана Николова
Yes, Georgi, I also sometimes pass by after my shift at the hospital and look at these thick walls. I wonder if Samuel saw the basilica when it was still in its prime. Eternal memory to him.

The stone floors really do make all the difference in Sofia's heat. I remember feeling that same cool quiet when we visited with our parish group a few years back. Memory eternal.

Богдана Петрова
Yes, Ivanka, I've also passed by after a night shift and I always wonder how they managed to arrange those heavy stones so precisely. Eternal memory of King Samuel.

The stone floors do help, but I always liked how the side chapels in St. Sophia feel even quieter than the main nave. I lit a candle for Tsar Samuel there once on a trip through Sofia. May the Lord grant him rest.

The mosaics are really impressive, especially the oldest ones. The choice of Saint Sophia makes sense because it is one of the oldest places of worship in the city, and Samuel was a ruler who fought for these lands. I wonder if they will stay there longer after the service, or just for the prayer time?
J
Jan Szymański
The mosaics in Sofia are truly breathtaking, those from the 6th century are pure history. It's good that they chose this place - Samuel fought for this area, and the basilica has been there for centuries. I wonder if after the service they will move the relics to some permanent place or will it stay in Sofia?
Д
Даниела Христова
Yes, the place is indeed in the place. As for me, passing by after school, I often remember how much it weighed on Samuel to carry such a large country on his back. Eternal memory to him.
Т
Тодор Кирилов
Interesting, Bogdana, I have also wondered the same thing - Samuil ruled from Preslav and Ohrid, and the basilica was already old then, but still functioning. The thick walls really make you wonder how much they've seen. Eternal memory to him.
