Thankful for abortion pill reversal: ‘We are grateful someone answered’

July 3, 2026 · 1 min read

More than 200 women banded together to advocate for access to abortion pill reversal in response to California officials targeting the practice.

In abortion pill reversal, a patient who no longer desires abortion takes the hormone progesterone to save the life of her child after she has taken the first chemical abortion pill. In recent years, abortion pill reversal awareness has been targeted in the states of California and Colorado.

In an open letter , 225 women who have been helped by the Abortion Pill Rescue Network (APRN) expressed their gratitude for being able to access abortion pill reversal.

“The healthcare professionals who spoke with us, whether doctor, nurse, or staff, treated us with compassion and respect,” the letter read. “They provided information about a medical protocol that might help preserve our pregnancies.”

“We were free to accept or decline that care,” the letter continued. “We made our own choices.”

“We reached out because we wanted to know if there was any possibility of continuing our pregnancies after taking mifepristone,” the letter read. “We are grateful that someone answered.”

The women expressed disagreement with the idea that…

We believe that life begins at conception, so every person has the right to respect. Is it clear what they wrote about mifepristone? Indeed, every choice must be weighed.

Yes, Mykhailo, they wrote about mifepristone, the first pill after which you can still try to save a pregnancy with progesterone. It is good that the women themselves emphasized: they were given information and a choice, without pressure. And what do you think, why is it so actively prevented in California?

Yes, Mykhailo, they were talking about mifepristone - the first pill after which progesterone can still help. It is good that women themselves emphasized freedom of choice without pressure. And what do you think, should doctors always offer such information, even if someone has already started the procedure?

Yes, Maxim, they clearly said exactly about mifepristone and that they applied themselves. I believe that doctors should offer this information if a woman asks or is in doubt - it's just giving a choice, as the letter says. And have you seen cases when everything really worked out after the first pill?

Yes, Maxim, they really emphasized that they called themselves after mifepristone and no one pushed them. I believe that doctors should be honest about the protocol if a woman asks, it's not pressure, it's just information. Have you heard about those 225 stories, or are you just reading from the letter?

Yes, Mykhailo, they wrote about mifepristone - the first pill, after which there is still a window for progesterone. I like how they emphasized that no one forced them, they just gave the information. And what do you think, why do some politicians want to hide this option from women?

Ivan, it is interesting that they themselves emphasized freedom of choice — without pressure. But why is California struggling with it so much if the woman has already changed her mind? Maybe they just don't want to admit that there is still a chance after the first pill?

Ivan, it's really good that women themselves wrote about their choice without pressure. Apparently, in California, they just don't want people to know about this possibility, because then their whole abortion campaign will fall apart. Have you heard how many of these 225 stories ended with the birth of healthy children?
Х
Христина Панченко
Yes, Lyudmila, it's good that they emphasized freedom of choice without pressure. I heard that with APRNs after such a protocol, about 60-70% of pregnancies end in the birth of healthy children, but I have not seen the exact figures for these 225 letters. And where did you read about it?
