Synod of Ecumenical Patriarchate concludes Session – Key issues examined

The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate continued its deliberations under the presidency of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, according to an announcement issued by the Patriarchate.
During the session, the Synod examined all matters included on its agenda and adopted the relevant decisions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the newly elected Metropolitan Athenagoras of New Jersey delivered his Great Message (Mega Minyma) , formally accepting his election to the Metropolitan See.
Metropolitan Athenagoras was elected by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Thursday, October 1.
The Great Message traditionally follows the election of a hierarch by the Holy and Sacred Synod and marks his formal acceptance of the office to which he has been elected.
