Thousands of people from all over the world come to the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius - the monastery founded by St. Sergius of Radonezh seven centuries ago. What do we know about the history of this great shrine of Russia? What role did she play in the fate of our Fatherland?

Revival of the country

The monastery was founded by St. Sergius of Radonezh in the fourteenth century. The saint lived very modestly, prayed, worked and raised disciples, but it turned out that for his time he became one of the main people in Russia.

In those years, the Russian land was divided into principalities, which were constantly at war with each other. This is called “feud.” The princes quarreled endlessly, led troops against each other, and sometimes killed people themselves, even their own relatives. This has greatly weakened our people. The Golden Horde, which then ruled Russia, took advantage of the weakness: the Horde khans constantly demanded tribute, raided our cities, villages, villages, robbed, killed and burned everything.

Sometimes Russian princes defeated the invaders, sometimes entire cities rebelled against the Horde. Then the oppression became weaker. But the time has not yet come for a great battle that would completely free our people from the heavy yoke.

Am citit cu atenție despre cum Sfântul Serghie a trăit atât de simplu, rugându-se și muncind, iar prin asta a unit oamenii în timp ce prinții se certau între ei. Mi-a rămas în minte partea cu internecinele și cum Orda profita de slăbiciunea noastră – parcă văd și acum cât de mult contează un om care nu caută putere. Mulțumesc pentru articol, mi-a dat chef să recitesc viața sfântului.
