On August 2, a solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of the Formation of the Russian Airborne Forces took place in Ulyanovsk on the 30th Anniversary of Victory Square.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky, those gathered were congratulated by the head of the department for interaction with the armed forces, Archpriest Sergius Kichigin. The priest wished the veterans good health, salvation and God's help in raising the younger generation.
The governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexey Russkikh, the chief federal inspector Yuri Kulik, the minister of the Ulyanovsk region Gennady Nerobeev, the head of the Ulyanovsk city administration Alexander Boldakin, representatives of the city administration, the city duma, the legislative assembly, youth and public organizations, and military personnel of the Ulyanovsk territorial garrison came to congratulate the airborne veterans.
After the official part in the Zavolzhsky district in the park named after Army General Vasily Margelov, veterans of the regional branch of the all-Russian public organization “Combat Brotherhood” laid flowers at the monument to the founder of the airborne troops.
