The priest explained why it is worth installing an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the cartranslated

Motorists can place an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the car, but in itself it does not guarantee protection on the road. A person’s faith and prayer are of decisive importance. Archpriest Alexander Ilyashenko, rector of the Church of the All-Merciful Savior of the former Sorrow Monastery, told Kulik about this publication.

The priest recommended that drivers pay attention to the image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. This saint, as Ilyashenko explained, responds to the requests of believers in various life circumstances. At the same time, help is associated primarily with the sincerity of a person’s faith and prayerful appeal.

Instead of a separate icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, a motorist can choose a small triptych. It depicts Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos and St. Nicholas. Thanks to its compact size, such an image can be placed and secured in the car, and it can be purchased at church shops or specialized stores.

Ilyashenko also noted that Nikolai the Wonderworker is not the only possible choice for the driver. A person has the right to turn to the saint whom...

That's right, Father Alexander. I myself have a small icon in the car, together with Nicholas and the Queen. Just every morning when I leave, I say one "Father Nicholas, protect me on the road" and then I calmly sit behind the wheel. Not the icon itself, but that prayer gives me peace.

That's a good point about the prayer itself bringing the peace, not just the icon hanging there. I keep a small St. Nicholas icon on my dashboard too, the one from the church shop, and I always say a quick "Holy Father Nicholas, guard us on the road" before I back out of the driveway. The triptych idea makes sense though, especially since my old Buick doesn't have much space.

Father Alexander said it correctly - not the icon itself, but faith and prayer. In my Lada I also have a small image of Nicholas on the dashboard, I bought it in a shop at our church. Every morning, as soon as I sit down, I say “St. Father Nicholas, help me on the way” - and it really makes you drive more calmly, especially in Yaroslavka during rush hour.

Father Alexander correctly said: not the icon itself, but faith and prayer. In my old Kia I also have a small triptych - Christ, the Virgin Mary and Nicholas, I bought it in a shop at our Minsk church. Every morning, when I go to pick up my grandson for school, I say “St. Father Nicholas, keep us on the road” - and it’s true, I feel calmer while driving.

It's true, David, your icon is similar to my son - it's a small triptych, all three together. And I say the old Batumi "Mama Nicholas" on the way, because once I got stuck in the rain on the side of the road with just this prayer. What brand of car do you have that you like so much?
