Students of the Don Theological Seminary made a pilgrimage to the city of Azovtranslated

On September 20, 2026, students of the theological-pastoral, regent-singing and icon-painting department of the Don Theological Seminary visited the ancient city of Azov. The event was organized as part of the implementation of the educational work plan of the seminary and was aimed at spiritual education and acquaintance of students with the historical heritage of the Don region.

The group of students was accompanied by the senior assistant to the vice-rector for educational work of the Don Theological Seminary, cleric of the Church of the Pentecost of the City of Rostov-on-Don, Priest Artemy Chamin.

Students went on an excursion to the world famous Azov Historical, Archaeological and Paleontological Museum-Reserve, where they were able to see unique exhibits telling about the rich history of the Azov region.

Traditionally, the exhibitions dedicated to the times of the Turkish fortress of Azak and the Azov siege of the Don Cossacks aroused great interest among students. Also, future shepherds, regents and icon painters examined a well-preserved monument of military engineering art of the 18th century - the Powder Magazine and climbed the ramparts, from where a view of the Don and preserved fortifications opens up.
