The Greek state will support, over the next ten years, the restoration, preservation and digitization of the heritage of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, based on a memorandum of cooperation concluded with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of Greece.

The document was signed in Athens in June 2026 and was ratified last week by the Greek Parliament, through a draft law of the Ministry of Culture, adopted by a majority. The agreement has a duration of ten years and may be extended following a joint evaluation of the results of its application.

The cooperation concerns the Holy Places of Pilgrimage, churches and monastic settlements, works of art and smells, as well as the heritage of the Historical Archive and the Patriarchal Library.
