Calendario ortodoxo, 1 de julio San Leoncio de Rădăuți Nació en Rădăuți, Moldavia en el siglo XIV.

Se llamó Laurence cuando recibió la tonsura monástica. Con el tiempo fue declarado digno de la ordenación sacerdotal y fundó un monasterio cerca de Rădăuți, que más tarde llegó a ser conocido como el Monasterio de San Lorenzo. Entre sus muchos discípulos se encontraba San Daniel Hesicasta (18 de diciembre).

Por su vida santa recibió de Dios la gracia de obrar milagros. Muchos enfermos fueron sanados gracias a sus oraciones y él se convirtió en padre, maestro y protector para todos.

El príncipe Alejandro el Bueno recomendó que lo nombraran obispo de Rădăuți. San Leoncio guió a su rebaño con sabiduría durante muchos años y luego se retiró a vivir solo en el desierto. Recibió el Gran Esquema con el nombre de Leoncio y poco después partió hacia el Señor. Sus santas reliquias fueron encontradas incorruptas y muchas personas recibieron curación en su tumba.

San Leoncio fue glorificado por la Iglesia Ortodoxa de Rumania en 1992.
