Employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service visited the monasteries of the village of Podgory on the Day of the Baptism of Rus'translated

On July 28, on the Day of the Baptism of Rus', the Women's Council of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Samara Region organized a pilgrimage trip for department employees to the monastery in honor of the Cross of the Lord and the convent in honor of the Prophet Elijah, located in the village of Podgory. The trip participants were accompanied by the head of the Department for Prison Ministry of the Samara Diocese, priest Andrei Ivanov. Excursions to both monasteries were organized for pilgrims. In the monastery, participants got acquainted with the history of the monastery, its shrines, architecture and the modern life of the brethren. At the convent, a tour was conducted by one of the sisters, who spoke about the history of the founding of the monastery, its spiritual traditions and the current way of life in the monastery. After the excursions, priest Andrei Ivanov talked with the trip participants and answered their questions about the Orthodox faith, church life and spiritual traditions. Employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service also visited the holy spring and font, took part in a festive service dedicated to the Day of the Baptism of Rus'. The pilgrimage trip allowed its participants to become better acquainted with the Orthodox shrines of the Samara region, spend a holiday in an atmosphere of prayer and touch the spiritual heritage...
