On October 16, at the center of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society in Moscow, a meeting was held between Metropolitan Longin of Simbirsk and Novospassky with the Chairman of the IOPS Sergei Vadimovich Stepashin and the representative from the legislative body of the state power of the Ulyanovsk region in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the first deputy chairman of the budget committee and financial markets, member of the IOPS Sergei Nikolaevich Ryabukhin.

Metropolitan Longin spoke about the conversation that took place the day before with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, during which Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region A.Yu. The Russians invited the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to visit the region; about preparations for the Great Consecration of the Church in the name of the Holy Blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky in Ulyanovsk and about the creation of a pilgrimage center in the village of Surskoye.

The Bishop thanked S.V. Stepashin and S.N. Ryabukhin for his heartfelt participation and charitable assistance in the construction and beautification of the Alexander Nevsky Church and support for other projects of the Simbirsk diocese.
