With the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, on October 8, the Russian Orthodox Church remembers St. Sergius, abbot of Radonezh, collector of Russian lands, wonderworker of all Rus'. The day before, October 7, the Head of the Belgorod Metropolis visited the village of Maloye Gorodishche, Novooskolsky district, where he celebrated an all-night vigil in the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh. His Eminence was served by the dean of the Novooskol district, Archpriest Nikolai Gerasimchuk, the confessor of the diocese, Archpriest Vasily Feer, the rector of the Sergius Church, priest Sergius Kosinov, and clergy of the Novooskol deanery. At the end of the service, Metropolitan John addressed the worshipers with an archpastoral word.
In consideration of their work for the benefit of the Belgorod Metropolis, on the occasion of the patronal feast of the church, the gratitude of the Head of the Belgorod Metropolis was awarded to Elistratov Alexey Vasilyevich - sexton of the church, Simonova Galina Ivanovna - choir director, Elistratova Elena Nikolaevna - employee of the church, Dorokhova Anna Petrovna - employee of the church and Lukyanova Tatyana Ivanovna is a parishioner of the church.
