Loneliness, a contemporary spiritual scourge: 8 pastoral ideas proposed in the Synod of the Church of Greecetranslated

Hierarchs from the Synod of the Church of Greece discussed on Wednesday the phenomenon of loneliness in contemporary society and its pastoral consequences. Eight measures have been proposed that can help heal this wound through faith communities.
His Eminence Father Dorothea, Metropolitan of Syros, Tinos, Andros, Kea, Milos, Delos and Mykonos, presented the report on the theme "Pastoralization of loneliness and mental exhaustion in contemporary society".
Its first section was dedicated to the theological and patristic foundation of the ministry of solitude. The hierarch emphasized that the ministry of loneliness does not consist only of advice, but also of restoring relationships, reintegrating man into the community of love and revealing the truth that no one is saved alone.
In the second section, entitled "Loneliness and mental exhaustion, a contemporary social and pastoral problem", the hierarch noted that the phenomenon affects all layers of society, all age segments and even families, whose members often end up living together without authentic communion with each other.
