The Ardelan Confessor Saints were honored at the Cocoș Monastery, founded by a Transylvanian monktranslated

On Wednesday, the Cocoș Monastery in Tulcea County honored the Ardelian Martyrs - Visarion, Sofronie and Oprea, and St. Priests Moise Măcinic from Sibiel and John from Galeș. The Holy Liturgy was officiated by the Most Reverend Father Visarion, the Bishop of Tulcea, who celebrated his name day.
"The spiritual lavra Cocoș in the north of Dobrogea was founded by a Transylvanian, Archimandrite Visarion Făgărășanul. In this spiritual lavra, dozens and dozens of Transylvanian monks, who, because of the harshness of the times there from Transylvania, came and found their peace of mind here", said the Bishop of Tulcea.
The hierarch emphasized that their testimony remains a landmark for Christians today.
"They defended the right faith, they strengthened the believers in keeping the truth of the rightly magnifying faith and, at the same time, they also urge us, those of today, to keep the right faith, to defend it and, above all, to put it to work through good evangelical deeds", pointed out Father Bishop Visarion.
At the end of the service, the commemoration of Archimandrite Visarion Făgărășanul, the founder and first abbot of the Cocoș Monastery, was performed.
