St. Philotimia and her son, St. Domitius the Merciful, honored together for the first time at Râmeț Monasterytranslated

July 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The Râmeț Monastery in Alba County honored for the first time together the two recently canonized saints - mother and son - who lived in this community: St. Cuv. Philotimia from Râmeț and St. Cuv. Dometie the Merciful from Râmeț.

The relics of the two saints are preserved in the church of the monastic settlement, St. Dometie being canonized in 2024, and his mother, St. Philotimia, in 2025.

It was the first liturgical celebration of the saint recently entered in the calendar of the Romanian Orthodox Church, after the recent local proclamation of her canonization, on the feast of St. Peter and Paul, the patron of the new church of the monastery.

The liturgical program began on Sunday evening, with the Vigil service, officiated by a council of priests led by the Protos. Ioanichie Pleșa, servant of the Râmeț Monastery.

Great Vespers together with Litia and Matins were celebrated, and the answers to the pew were given by the choir of monks from the community.
