Orthodox calendar, August 7 Saint Pious Theodora of Sihla This spiritual flower and bride of Christ, which the blessed land of Moldova brought up, was born in the middle of the 17th century, in the village of Vânători - Neamţ, from pious and God-loving parents.

Her father, Ştefan Joldea Armaşul, had a military rank, as the name suggests, being a guard of the Neamţ Citadel and an armas, that is, a weapon maker for those who defended the famous Moldavian citadel. His mother, whose name is not known, took care of the household and the good upbringing, in the fear of God, of her two daughters, Teodora and Maghiţa (Marghioliţa).

The younger daughter soon moved to God, and blessed Teodora, under the guidance of her priest - St. John from Râşca, then abbot of the Monastery in Neamţu Citadel, increased in prayer and good deeds, loving Christ with all her heart and wanting to worship Him all her life. However, the will of her parents was different, and Teodora was married, against her will, to a pious young man from the city of Ismail.
