Orthodox calendar July 6 St. Cuv. Dometie the Merciful from Râmeţ Saint Pious Dometie was born on October 13, 1924, in Bălăneşti commune, Buzău county, of pious parents, receiving the name Stelian at baptism. From his infancy he showed a lot of love for the service of God and for people in suffering.

He attended the courses of the Theological Seminary in Buzău, which he graduated as head of graduation in 1945. In the same year, he enrolled at the Faculty of Theology in Bucharest, which he graduated in 1949. Both his bachelor's thesis and his doctoral thesis, which he worked on in the period 1972-1975, were carried out under the coordination of the Holy Priest Witness Dumitru Stâniloae.

He was ordained a deacon at the Hodoş-Bodrog Monastery in the Diocese of Arad, on August 6, 1949, and he received the great gift of the priesthood on August 7, 1949, at the Episcopal Cathedral in Arad, being ordained on behalf of the Prislop Monastery by Bishop Andrei Magieru.
