Sisters of Mercy congratulated the crisis center on its 15th anniversarytranslated

July 8, 2026 · 1 min read

On July 7, the sisters of mercy of the Simbirsk diocese attended a gala event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the creation of the regional state-owned social service institution “Comprehensive Crisis Center”. The festive meeting took place at the Sovremennik cultural center.

The head of the Zasviyazhsky district administration, as well as the heads of regional institutions, addressed the audience with welcoming words. The evening ended with a creative concert.

For about two years, the sisters have been serving within the walls of the center. They regularly visit their charges, help with everyday matters, prepare food together, and hold conversations. On church holidays, the sisters congratulate the residents and talk about the content and meaning of these events.

It is good that they have been going to this center regularly for two years now, not only on holidays. It is very important that they cook and talk together—it brings peace to many people. May God give them strength.

Good thing the sisters have been going regularly for two years, not just on holidays. I like that I cook together with the people there and talk about the meaning of the holidays - it catches on better that way. May God give them continued health and patience.

It’s good that they have been going there regularly for two years and that they prepare food together with the residents. It must create real closeness. May the Lord give them the strength to continue.

Well said, Salome. Two years of going systematically and cooking together is really much more important than just coming to the holidays. My neighbor once went to a similar center and said that it was these conversations that encouraged him the most.

Yes, preparing food together changes everything, we can clearly see how it brings people together on a daily basis. At home in Nice, we do the same with the elderly people of the parish; a simple vegetable pie is often enough to create bonds. May the Lord keep them in good health to continue this service.

Yes, shared cooking really creates simple and strong bonds. At home in Strasbourg, we sometimes prepare koulibiacs with the grannies of the parish, and it always ends with secrets around the table. Are your vegetable tartlets made from zucchini from the market?

Totally agree, Vakhtang. Two years of daily help and conversation really helps people in a deeper way than just showing up at the holidays. I also thought a lot about your neighbor's story - my mother used to say the same thing, that the simple conversation cheered her up the most.

Thea, you are right, daily conversation and cooking together brings a person much closer. My neighbor used to tell me that drinking one cup of tea was enough to make him feel less alone. How long has your mother been saying that?
