The secretary of the diocese took part in a meeting of the Congress of the Dagestan intelligentsiatranslated

On October 2, 2026, a meeting of the Congress of the Dagestan intelligentsia “Unity and consent - the basis and foundation of the Russian Federation” was held in the conference hall of the Dagestan State University.

The event was dedicated to discussing state national policy in the context of modern challenges.

The meeting was chaired by the rector of the Dagestan State University, head of the Congress Murtazali Rabadanov.

The work was attended by the head of the department of national policy and information support of the Ministry of National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan Magomed Daitbegov, the head of the Department of History of Religions of the DSU Lyudmila Avshalumova, as well as representatives of the scientific and educational community, public and political figures, teachers and journalists.

With the blessing of Archbishop Varlaam of Makhachkala and Derbent, the Makhachkala diocese was represented at the meeting by the secretary of the diocese, priest Pavel Kalikin.
