The transfer of the relics of the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye (+ 1642) is remembered by the Orthodox Church on September 25.

Righteous Simeon, the Verkhoturye miracle worker, is revered as the heavenly patron of the Urals and Siberia.

He reposed in 1642 and was buried in the Merkushinsky churchyard near the Church of the Archangel Michael.

Half a century later, the coffin with the saint’s body miraculously appeared on the surface - this is how his incorruptible relics were found, from which numerous healings began to flow.

The glorification of righteous Simeon as a saint began in 1694, and on September 25 (12), 1704, his relics were transferred from the village of Merkushino to the spiritual center of the Urals - Verkhoturye.

After the transfer of the relics, a healing spring began to flow into the grave of the ascetic of God, which still emanates from the earth. The St. Simeon Church was built over the source.

The relics of the righteous Simeon of Verkhoturye reside in the Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Cross of the St. Nicholas Monastery in Verkhoturye.
