Today, September 23, the Church honors the memory of the New Martyr Tatiana Grimblittranslated

The memory of the New Martyr Tatiana Grimblit (+ 1937) is celebrated by the Orthodox Church on September 23.

Tatyana Grimblit was born on December 1, 1903 in Tomsk. After graduating from the local gymnasium in 1920, she went to work as a teacher at the Klyuchi children's colony.

After the Civil War and the beginning of mass repressions, Tatyana Grimblit exchanged almost all the money she earned, as well as what she managed to collect in the churches of Tomsk, for food and things, transferring them to prisoners in the local prison.

She later became a nurse to help those suffering. In her free time, she wrote poetry.

For her active assistance to the clergy, prisoners and repressed people, the new martyr was repeatedly subjected to arrest and repression. She was last arrested on September 6, 1937, on charges of “anti-Soviet activities.”

On September 22, 1937, Tatyana was sentenced to death, and on September 23, she was shot and buried in an unknown mass grave at the Butovo training ground.

Tatiana Grimblit was canonized as a new martyr by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on July 17, 2002.
