The memory of one of the saints of the first centuries of Christianity - the Monk Moses Murin (+ c. 400) - is celebrated by the Orthodox Church on September 10.

By Saint Moses was an Ethiopian by origin, and he lived in Egypt. For his black face nicknamed "Murin".

B in his youth he was a slave to a noble man, but for committing murder the gentleman drove him away. After this, the future saint joined a gang of robbers, which he headed. For several years, together with his accomplices, he committed various atrocities - he killed, robbed, so that everyone was afraid even of his name.

However after several years of such a life, Moses Murin repented, left the gang and went to one of the desert monasteries. There he cried for a long time, asking to be accepted, but the brothers the monastery did not believe him. Only after long requests was Moses accepted into the monastery.

At the monastery, the monk was in complete obedience to the abbot and brethren, sincerely mourning his previous deeds. Subsequently, he went to a secluded cell, where he continued to lead a strict ascetic life.

Over the years of asceticism, many different incidents happened to the monk. So, for example, largely thanks to his personal path of repentance, his accomplices also repented of their deeds...
