On October 1, 2026, on the day of celebration in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Healer,” prayers are held in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church for the healing of children with serious illnesses and for their parents.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill previously blessed such prayer services after a corresponding appeal from the head of the fund for supporting children with serious life-threatening and chronic diseases, incl. rare (orphan) diseases, “Circle of Good” by Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko.

“On the day of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God “Healer”, which takes place on October 1, I give my blessing to establish, with inclusion in the church calendar (months of words), special prayers for the healing of children with serious illnesses and for their parents, with prayer services in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church,” the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted in the resolution.

The High Hierarch also blessed the establishment of special veneration of the image of the Mother of God “Healer” in prayers for the healing of children with serious illnesses.
