The role of the School and the Church in the formation of young people and in preserving the Romanian identity was the topic of a conference organized on Tuesday in Sibiu. The meeting marked the 50th anniversary of the "Nicolae Iorga" High School in the Hippodrome district.

The conference entitled "School and Church, pillars of national identity" was hosted at the "Ascension of the Lord and Saint Nicholas" Church, where students, parents and teachers gathered.

Among the guests of the meeting were Fr. Constantin Necula, professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology "Saint Andrei Şaguna" in Sibiu, lect. university Dr. Radu-Ştefan Racovițan, vice-dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences within the "Lucian Blaga" University in Sibiu, and Fr. Ioan Puia, servant of Lazaret III Parish.

The program opened with an artistic moment performed by members of the "Cindrelul-Junii Sibiului" Folk Ensemble, together with students from the "Nicolae Iorga" High School.
