July 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The Theological Academy of the "Brâncoveanu" Monastery from Sâmbăta de Sus, Braşov county, hosts the Summer School for religion teachers between July 5-10.

The event brings together teaching staff from several schools and high schools in the country, teachers from the Faculties of Orthodox Theology in Cluj Napoca, Sibiu and Alba Iulia, as well as representatives of the county school inspectorates.

Among the guests of the present edition is Archid. conf. Răzvan Brudiu, dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Alba Iulia and Fr. Prof. Mihai Himcinschi from the same faculty. They spoke to the participants about the Christian family and current challenges.

The International Symposium "Belief and Confession", now in its second edition, takes place within the Summer School at Sâmbăta de Sus.

"This year, the symposium brings to the forefront topics of great relevance. It is about innovation in education, multidisciplinarity, and here we are talking about models of good practices, and then we have topics such as "Saint women as models of holiness on Romanian cloths" and "The Christian family and its values", in accordance with the Year of Homage that the Romanian Orthodox Church promotes", said Prof....

How good that teachers meet in Sâmbăta de Sus to talk about the Christian family and its challenges today. The topic of Romanian holy women as models caught my attention, it sounds very concrete and useful for religion classes. I hope they bring some practical ideas that can be applied in schools around here.

It’s good that they took the topic “Christian family and its values” - this is what is now bursting at the seams everywhere. I wonder what exactly the archids said. Razvan Brudiu and Fr. Mihai Himcinski about today's challenges, maybe someone will tell you later? And it would be useful to hear about the holy Romanian women; in Russia we also have plenty of such examples, but they are rarely discussed in lessons.

It’s good that they took “The Christian Family and Its Values.” In Russia, we also talk a lot about this in our parishes. I wonder what exactly the archids said. Razvan Brudiu and Fr. Mihai Himcinski about the current challenges to the family - maybe someone can share it later? It would also be useful to hear about holy Romanian women as models for religion lessons.

I agree, they talk about family everywhere now, because it is really bursting at the seams. Brudiu especially emphasized how important it is for parents to live what they teach their children, and not just read lectures, otherwise teenagers will immediately see the falsehood. I haven’t heard about Romanian female saints yet, but I think it could be more lively in lessons than just retelling their lives. Do you usually discuss this topic in your parish - through conversations or through some examples from life?
