The weekly Lumina de Duminică celebrates 21 years since its first appearancetranslated

The Sunday Light weekly of the Romanian Patriarchate celebrates 21 years of uninterrupted publication on Friday.

The first edition appeared on October 16, 2005, in Iasi, during the pastorate of Patriarch Daniel as Metropolitan of Moldova and Bucovina. The first issue also contained articles about the proclamation of the canonization of Saint Metropolitan Dosoftei.

In 2025, the weekly Lumina de Duminică published the 1,000th edition.

Completing an editorial approach In a message sent upon the publication of the 1,000th issue, the Blessed Father Patriarch Daniel emphasized the necessity of the weekly.

"After the launch on the Romanian media market of the daily Lumina, on Monday, February 7, 2005, in Iași, the need was felt to complete this editorial approach with a weekend publication, with a shop-type format, accessible to the general public, but in which the content can be placed at will, not having impediments related to space, as happened in the case of the daily".

"Sunday Light not infrequently appears in the bibliography of seminar, bachelor's, master's and even doctorate papers, proving once again the quality of the articles published there", emphasized His Beatitude.
