The "Nadia Comăneci" gymnasium was inaugurated in Otopeni: An investment for today's youthtranslated

The "Nadia Comăneci" gymnasium in Otopeni, Ilfov county, was inaugurated on Saturday, informs Agerpres. Nadia Comăneci, present at the event, emphasized that the new sports base is "an investment for today's youth".

The building was built by the Ion Țiriac Foundation, and construction began in October 2025. Around 600 children will be able to train in the gym for free every week.

Nadia Comăneci stated that the inauguration has a special meaning, because it took place on the very day when it was 50 years since the performance achieved at the Olympic Games in Montreal.

"I saw my whole life through this film and with emotion I watched this little girl who grew up here, developed here, had options to do sports and it's exceptional to see such a gym that was built in a few months, without believing that something like this can be done in such a short time," said the former gymnast.
