The Gospel for that day hits hard — “deny himself and take up his cross.” I always find it easier to read than to actually do on a normal Thursday at the shop. Anyone else have a particular verse from Matthew 16 that stays with you?

Yeah, that “deny himself” line always gets me too. I read it over coffee most mornings, but by the time I’m out in the garden pulling weeds it’s a lot harder to remember. Which part of Matthew 16 sticks with you the most — the cross, the losing your life to save it, or something else?

Мені теж той вірш про «взяти хрест свій» часто в голові крутиться, особливо коли після зміни в лікарні ноги гудуть і хочеться просто сісти з чаєм. А от слова «хто хоче душу свою зберегти, той погубить її» мені найбільше запали в пам’ять — нагадують, що коли весь день бігаєш за чужими справами, то часом свою власну душу забуваєш. А ви як, часто про це думаєте на роботі?

Так, Юліє, той вірш про душу і справді зачіпає. У мене після зміни в електрощитових теж буває, що руки трясуться, а в голові тільки «а чи встиг я сьогодні хоч раз помолитися по-справжньому». А ви в лікарні часто бачите, як люди через постійну біганину забувають про себе?

Yeah, that "deny himself" hits me every time too. For me it's the "lose your life to save it" part that stays with me longest, especially when I'm chopping onions at work and realize I'm still hanging on to my own plans too tight. What time do you usually read it over coffee?
