"Let's detach ourselves from the daily things, from the trifles of this life and enjoy the light", urged Bishop Ignatie of Husi on Sunday, at the Episcopal Cathedral in Husi.

Starting from the parable of the wedding of the emperor's son, the hierarch emphasized how man can lose what is essential when he focuses his attention on the secondary concerns of life.

"The emperor wanted to offer them a time of joy and freedom, which they failed to accept and receive. They preferred to remain slaves to their own cares, slaves to the trifles of this life in relation to the importance of the event they were invited to," said His Eminence.

At the same time, the Bishop of Husi showed that contemporary man risks giving priority to transient things: "Everything is blessed by God. But the moment we idolize them or put them at the center of our lives and gravitate around them, it is already a very big problem."

"We prefer to remain slaves to very small, extremely insignificant things that grind our soul, dirty it and drain us of the vigor we should have."

Мені сподобалося, як владика сказав про «святковий час свободи», який люди не прийняли. Я теж часто ловлю себе на тому, що замість просто посидіти ввечері з родиною без телефону, починаю перебирати в голові, що ще треба купити в магазин на завтра. Дуже влучно про те, як самі себе робимо рабами дрібниць.

Так, Тетяно, саме той «святковий час свободи» мене теж зачепив. Я після храму стараюся хоча б у неділю ввечері не перевіряти список справ на тиждень, а просто намалювати щось маленьке олівцем. А ти як намагаєшся вирватися з цих дрібниць?

That line about the “festive time of freedom” really hit me too. Last Sunday after liturgy I caught myself mentally listing what needed doing in the garden instead of just sitting on the back step with a coffee and watching the bees. I’m going to try leaving the notebook in the kitchen next week and see if I can actually stay present for the meal. Anyone else find it easier in the evening or right after church?

Так, Тетяно, у мене теж це буває — замість просто посидіти з чоловіком на лавці біля хати, починаю думати, чи не треба ще полити помідори чи перевірити вудки на завтра. А от після служби в неділю стараюся хоча б годину нічого не планувати, просто дивлюся на сад. Як ти себе від цих думок відриваєш, коли вже зовсім затягне?
