The Communist Party candidate Nikolai Bondarenko was removed from the State Duma elections. The reason is the publication of Navalny’s phototranslated

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation canceled the registration of communist Nikolai Bondarenko in the State Duma elections, Vedomosti reports. 12 CEC members were in favor of the decision, and one was against it.

In August, a court in Saratov fined Bondarenko one thousand rubles under an administrative article on the demonstration of extremist symbols due to the publication of a photograph of Alexei Navalny in a telegram channel.

The article under which the politician was fined prohibits him from being elected in elections next year. Bondarenko tried to challenge this decision, but on September 4, the Saratov Regional Court rejected his appeal.

In a similar way, oppositionist Boris Nadezhdin was removed from the elections: he was fined under the same article because of Navalny’s photograph. After this, Nadezhdin left Russia.

In August, the list of Yabloko, the only party with an anti-war position that was included on the ballot, was removed from the State Duma elections.
