"He truly denied himself," Vicar Bishop Teofil Trotușanul of the Archdiocese of Roman and Bacău emphasized on Wednesday about St. John Jacob from Neamț. "He understood and lived this call of Christ."

His Eminence officiated the Holy Liturgy at the "Saint Ioan Iacob Hozevitul" Monastery in Comănești, Bacău County, on the occasion of the patron saint of the monastic establishment.

Yes, self-denial is not just for monks. I remembered what PS Teofil said, that we, ordinary people, must take up our cross daily, not just on Sundays at church. In our choir in Cologne we try this when we come to rehearsals tired, but it's still easier than what St. John Jacob experienced.
