The Romanians in Malta are promoting their traditions and cultural identity through a new project, which runs from July 1 to October 30, according to a press release. The initiative belongs to the only Romanian parish in the country.
The action is aimed especially at Romanian families, children and young people and aims to get closer to the mother tongue, traditions and cultural and spiritual values of Romania.
Among other objectives of the project, with the theme "Romanian identity and culture in the diaspora in Malta", the promotion of Romanian heritage in Maltese society and the development of dialogue between the two communities is aimed at.
"For the Romanian community in Malta, identity means not only preserving the connection with Romania, but also passing it on. Through this project, we want the new generations to know their roots, and our Maltese friends to better discover the culture and history of Romania," said the parish priest George Alexandru Popescu.
Romanian-Maltese friendship One of the important manifestations of the project will take place on October 24, at San Anton Palace in Attard, the presidential residence of Malta.
