Romanians in history: Anastasia Popescu, the teacher who fought for the reintroduction of Religion in schooltranslated

31 years ago, he went to Mr. Anastasia Popescu, one of the outstanding personalities of Romanian pedagogy. He dedicated his life to the education and Christian training of children, continuing his vocation even during the years of the communist regime. After 1989, he was actively involved in the efforts to reintroduce Religion in education.

He was born on June 14, 1911, in Costești commune, Argeș county, in a family where Christian education played an important role, his mother, Elena, being the daughter of a priest. The interest in study was manifested since childhood.

After graduating from high school, in 1929, he attended the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Bucharest, preparing for a career in the field of religious education. She taught at the Regina Maria High School in Silistra, at the Girls' High School in Bistrita, and in 1936 she was appointed a teacher at the Iulia Hașdeu School in Bucharest.

According to her own confessions, for Anastasia Popescu, the pedagogues who marked her life were the teacher Marin Pițigoi, as well as father Ioan Imbroane, along with great teachers, such as Simion Mehedinți, or Dimitrie Gusti.
