Religions for Peace Europe Delegation visits Resurrection Cathedral in Tirana

August 11, 2026 · 1 min read

A delegation from Religions for Peace Europe visited the Resurrection of Christ Cathedral in Tirana as part of the regional forum “Shared Sacred Wellbeing.”

The delegation was welcomed by Bishop Ignatios of Amantia, who received the participants at the cathedral and introduced them to the life and work of the Orthodox Church of Albania.

During their visit, the members of the delegation toured the cathedral and were briefed on its history, spiritual heritage and the pastoral ministry of the Church in Albania.

The discussion also focused on the contribution of Orthodoxy to the promotion of religious harmony in the country and on the ways in which this has fostered practical interfaith cooperation with visible benefits for Albanian society.

Particular reference was made to the Interreligious Council of Albania, founded by the late Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. The Council was highlighted as an example of how religious communities can work together on social issues without compromising their respective doctrinal principles, with love for one’s fellow human being serving as a common foundation for cooperation.
