On October 14, 2026, a regular meeting of the Council of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of the Sverdlovsk Region was held at the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic. The rector of the Yekaterinburg Theological Seminary, Hieromonk Korniliy (Zaitsev), took part in its work.

The participants discussed the development of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education. Presentations were made by the first vice-rector of the Ural State Medical University, Evgeniy Vanin, and the Consul General of China in Yekaterinburg, Luo Shixiong. The Council noted the positive dynamics of interaction between universities in the region and Chinese universities.

Other issues on the agenda include the implementation of the Pushkin Card program, cultural and educational projects of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic for youth, and cooperation between universities and the Russian Knowledge Society. The participants also reviewed projects for the development of the Ural State University of Transport and Communications and the results of the elections held in the Sverdlovsk region on September 18–20, 2026.
