The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church decreed that the year 2026 would be the year of tribute to the pastoral care of the Christian family and the commemorative year of the holy women of the calendar (myronoses, martyrs, monks, wives and mothers), in the Romanian Patriarchate.

This synodal decision placed two closely related realities at the center of church life. The first is the Christian family, place of birth and growth in faith. The second is the parable offered by the Christian woman, steadfast bearer of piety from one generation to another.
