PS Varlaam Ploieșteanul: Each of us has the duty to honor the Mother of Godtranslated

"We understand from today's Gospel that each of us has the duty to honor the Mother of God as appropriate, because she is the candlestick that carried the Light, that is, she carried in her womb the One who would say about Himself: I am the Light of the World," said Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Varlaam Ploieșteanul at the Patriarchal Cathedral on Saturday.

His Eminence pointed out that the Mother of God is prefigured by the golden bowl in which the manna was stored, through which God miraculously fed the chosen people in the wilderness.

"The Mother of God carried Jesus in her womb who said: I am the bread that came down from Heaven, He who eats this bread will have eternal life".

"We should always have her in our prayers and always ask for her protection and intercession for us," urged the hierarch.

The patriarchal vicar bishop pointed out that the Church honors the Mother of God immediately after the Most Holy Trinity.
