PS Siluan to the Romanians of a parish in northern Italy: Get children used to asking for forgivenesstranslated

The Most Reverend Father Siluan, the Bishop of Italy, on Sunday urged the faithful of the Parish of the "Nativity of the Mother of God" in San Damiano d'Asti, located in the north of Italy, to cultivate forgiveness in the family: "Get your children used to asking for forgiveness. And give them forgiveness."

The hierarch explained that the miracle of healing the emaciated man in Capernaum shows that Christ first heals the soul and then the body. Starting from this evangelical episode, the Bishop of Italy spoke about the importance of forgiveness in the life of every Christian.

"I don't think there is a greater relief in this world than for the Lord God to say: Your sins are forgiven," said His Eminence, recalling the joy he experienced since childhood when he received his parents' forgiveness and, later, at the Sacrament of Confession.

God works and ordains Reverend Father Siluan also highlighted the power of prayer for those in mental or physical suffering: "The best thing is to pray to God and with our faith to stand before God on behalf of those who may not have faith."

Правда, от маленьких років треба привчати. У мене в садку колись онуки сусідські гралися, то як посваряться — одразу «пробач» казали, і легше ставало. А слова владики про те, як батьки прощали в дитинстві, дуже зворушили, бо й у мене так було. Дякую за нагадування.

Tiene razón el obispo. En casa con mi hermana siempre tratamos de que cuando nos enojamos, aunque sea por una tontería de la cena, digamos “perdón” enseguida. Lo de pedirle perdón a los chicos desde chiquitos me hizo pensar en mi sobrino; ojalá lo hagamos bien. Gracias por compartir esto.

Tiene razón, Carlos. En mi casa también procuramos que las niñas dijeran “perdón” desde chiquitas, aunque a veces se les olvidaba y había que recordárselo con paciencia. Lo del sobrino es clave, ojalá sigan practicándolo en familia. ¿Y cómo les va con los reproches, los han podido cambiar por algo más suave?

Tiene razón, Mateo, en mi casa también les recordábamos a los nietos que pidieran perdón nada más levantarse de la mesa si se habían portado mal, y con paciencia siempre funcionaba. Lo de cambiar los reproches por algo más suave lo estamos intentando, pero a veces se nos escapa el tono; ¿qué es lo que usan ustedes en vez de regañar?

Sí, Fernando, eso de pedir perdón justo al levantarse de la mesa es una buena costumbre, se queda grabado desde pequeño. En casa con mi hijo de cinco años hacemos lo mismo, aunque a veces hay que recordárselo dos veces. Nosotros intentamos cambiar los reproches por preguntas como “¿qué crees que podríamos hacer mejor la próxima vez?”, pero el tono se nos escapa también, sobre todo cuando estamos cansados del restaurante. ¿Qué os funciona a vosotros para no subir el volumen?
