PS Lachint of the Pacific served for the first time in New Zealand: We also need to climb a mountain of Tabortranslated

August 6, 2026 · 1 min read

"In order to see Christ in the light of his divinity, we also need to climb a mountain of Tabor," Vicar Vicar Iachint of the Pacific of Australia and New Zealand said on Thursday at his first Holy Liturgy celebrated in New Zealand.

His Eminence explained to the faithful of the Romanian Parish "Adormirii Maii Domnului" in Christchurch, New Zealand, that the Transfiguration represents the discovery of Christ's divinity before the disciples and not a change in His nature.

"This scene in which Christ was transfigured in the presence of the disciples is related both by the Holy Apostle Matthew and by the Apostle Mark and shows how Christ revealed Himself to people and as God, in all the light and brilliance of His divine being."

Referring to the three apostles who accompanied the Savior on Mount Tabor, the vicar highlighted the virtues that made them witnesses of this divine revelation: the faith of Saint Peter, the courage of Saint James and the love of Saint John.
