PS Ioan Casian: The life of the Holy Prophet Elijah is full of foreshadowings of Christtranslated

The Most Reverend Father Ioan Casian, the Bishop of Canada, explained on Monday, at the Parish of "Saint Voivode Stephen the Great and Saint Jer. Nectarius" in Oshawa, Canada, that "the life of Saint Elijah the Prophet is full of foreshadowings of Christ."

The Bishop of Canada presented the Holy Prophet Elijah as "one of the most representative prophets of the Old Testament, a man of fasting, prayer and zeal for God".

His Eminence recalled that he appears with the Savior Christ and Moses at the Transfiguration, a fact that "shows precisely the unity of the Old and New Testaments and their fulfillment in Christ".

Yes, that bit about the drought being a call to repentance rather than punishment really stuck with me too. Makes you look at our dry spells differently. I also liked the reminder of Elijah standing with Christ at the Transfiguration – shows how the old and new fit together so plainly.
