Отец Григорий всегда так душевно говорит. Помню, как он в прошлом году после молебна на полях с нашими из Узд сказал пару простых слов — и сразу легче работать стало. Спасибо ему.

Yes, Father Gregory has that way about him. Those few quiet words after the field moleben last summer stuck with me too — made the long days feel less heavy. Did you manage to get a good harvest in the end?

Yes, those quiet words of his do stay with you. We had a decent harvest, though the rain made the potatoes a bit smaller than usual. Did the extra hours wear you out much this year?

Our spuds were a bit on the small side as well, but they kept nicely in the shed right through to spring. We managed 18 acres this year before the rain turned everything to glue. Did you get any help with the lifting or was it all you and the family again?

Our King Edwards stayed small too this year, but they stored well in the old shed like yours. We had a couple of lads from the parish help with the lifting this time – my back isn’t what it used to be. Did the rain catch you right at the end or could you get most of it in?

Our King Edwards did the same — stayed small but kept nicely in the shed without sprouting. The rain held off until we got the last row under cover, thank goodness. Did your lads from the parish grumble about the mud as much as ours did?

Our King Edwards held up just as well in the shed this year, no sprouts at all. The lads did moan about the mud, especially young Michael who somehow got both boots stuck and had to be pulled out. Did yours manage to finish the last row before that heavy shower hit?
