The "Book in villages" project gives children from rural areas access to readingtranslated

The "Book in villages" project, initiated by the "Eu, tu si ei" Association from Focșani, has been offering children from rural communities access to books, reading workshops and mini-libraries for eight years.

The program was initiated by Silvia Vrînceanu Nichita, a former journalist, who set off with a suitcase of books for children from villages where access to reading was limited. Silvia explained that the project aims not only to donate books, but also to create real meetings between children, volunteers and the community.

Reading, educational and formative alternative During the activities, the volunteers, called "storytellers", go to rural communities, read with the little ones and encourage them to discover reading as an educational and formative alternative.

"We have young people who grew up with the project and who are now teachers or are preparing to enter education. There are children whom I met eight years ago who became volunteers, then students and now teachers. For me, this is one of the most important results of the project", said Silvia Vrînceanu Nichita, for Agerpres.
