"We are commemorating her with the hope that she will also pray for us," said Friday the Reverend Father Nichifor Botoșaneanul, Vicar Bishop of the Archdiocese of Iași, about St. Olimpiada from Fărcașa, the mother of St. Cuv. Petronius from Prodromu.

The hierarch officiated the Vigil service in the church in the saint's native village, on the eve of her memorial day, when the local proclamation of her canonization will also take place.

"Born in 1880, she had a life that was not easy, but a life that, despite hardships, made people stronger, made people understand the truth of their faith and set their roots deep," His Eminence said. "He brought up eight children, and he did it abundantly, with good order, with faith and with love, learning from him the right faith."
