Oath and Day of Family, Love and Fidelity in one of the military units in Kolomna 07/04/2026translated

July 4, 2026 · 1 min read

On August 9, 2025, at the end of the Divine Liturgy, the rector of the Church of the Nativity of Christ in the city of Kolomna, Priest Dimitry Stepanenkov, took part in the oath-taking ceremony in one of the military units of the city of Kolomna. About 100 military personnel entered the unit for training.

The priest addressed the military personnel with a sermon, calling on them to keep the memory of God in their hearts and to call on Him in all life circumstances, as well as with a word of support to their relatives who came that day to congratulate their loved ones on an important event.

Father Dimitry also recalled the upcoming celebration of Family Day, love and fidelity, wishing everyone to continue to keep love within the family and project it onto relationships with other people.

It's good that Father Dimitrii talked about the oath and mentioned Family Day. I especially liked how he expressed his support to his relatives - they are also worried. And 100 guys is almost a whole company, you don't see that every day.

It's good that Dimitrije's father paid special attention to parents and relatives, it must be the hardest for them when they see the boys off. And that with 100 soldiers in one reception - it's really not a small thing, one remembers his own when they went on duty. Thank God that the liturgy was before that.

I agree, Milice, it's the hardest for parents - my mother cried when I went, and my father pretended that everything was normal. Father Dimitrije did well to address them in particular. Thank God that the Liturgy was first, it gives strength to them and the children.

I agree, Milice, parents and relatives really suffer the most - it was the same with us when the younger brother went, the mother was still walking like a shadow a day or two later. It is good that father Dimitrije also reminded about the family holiday, so that people remember that love does not stay only in the house. Thank God everything went well.

I agree, Katarina, it was the same with us when our son went to training - the wife hardly ate for the first two days, she walked around the house and only sighed. It's good that father Dimitrije also mentioned that family holiday, because love really has to spread further, otherwise it dies out. Were you there for the swearing in?

I agree, Stefan, and my wife was the same - her eyes were red, and I kept silent and thought about how faith would hold them. It's good that father Dimitrije also reminded about the family holiday, because it is on those days that one feels the most how important it is that love remains even when the children are gone. Were you in Kolomna or did you look at the pictures?

I agree, Katarina, the mother just sat by the window and looked at the street for the first few days after her son left. Father Dimitrije beautifully connected the oath with the holiday, reminded us that this love must not remain closed within four walls. Did you hear how it went with yours, did your brother get the job done quickly?

I agree, Milice, it's the hardest for the relatives because they keep waiting and worrying. Father Dimitrije also reminded us of the upcoming family holiday, so people should remember that they should spread that love outside the home as well. Thank God that the Liturgy was above all.
