The first heart transplant performed in Iasi: A patient in critical condition received a new chance at lifetranslated

A patient in critical condition due to severe heart failure was given a new chance at life following the first heart transplant performed in Iasi.
The intervention was carried out on Saturday at the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases "Prof. Dr. George I.M. Georgescu" by a medical team coordinated by professors Grigore Tinică and Horațiu Moldovan.
A historical moment The manager of the "Prof. Dr. George I.M. Georgescu" Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, professor Grigore Tinică, described the moment as a historic one for Romanian medicine.
"This intervention is much more than a surgical feat. It is proof that excellence is built through years of work, training, trust and collaboration between people who share the same mission: saving life."
The recipient of the transplant is a 44-year-old man from Vaslui county, in the institute's records since 2024. The patient suffered from a serious heart condition, and his condition deteriorated rapidly.
