The first total solar eclipse to cross Europe in 27 years takes place on Wednesday. In Romania, the phenomenon will only be partially visible, the greatest coverage of the solar disk being expected in the northwest of the country.

The last time the European continent experienced a total eclipse of the Sun was on August 11, 1999, a phenomenon that could also be observed in its entirety from Romania.

According to the European Space Agency, the band of totality will cross Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain, reaching as far as the Balearic Islands. In areas on this path, the Sun will be completely covered for about two minutes and 18 seconds at most.

In Spain, the total eclipse will be visible from several regions, the phenomenon occurring close to sunset. In other areas of Europe, the eclipse will be partial, with a very large coverage of the solar disk in some capitals and cities in the west of the continent.
